“CARV”

The Sahyadri Institute of Commerce formally Inaugurated its multilingual Language Club “CARV” On 25 November 2025. The Club aims to enhance Linguistics Competence, Promote Cultural Literacy and Create an inclusive Platform for academic enrichment across Kannada, English, Hindi and Urdu.

The Programme Commenced with the dignified Lighting of the Ceremonial  lamp by Smt. Nalini D’sa Secretary of the institution Symbolizing Knowledge, harmony and enlightenment. Dr Ullas E.G Principal who also participated in the Lamp -lighting Ceremony and delivered an insightful address emphasising the importance of linguistic diversity in holistic education. he encouraged Students to utilize the Club as a Space for intellectual growth and Creative expression.

As Part of the event, Students Presented ‘Historical Models’, Poster of eminent writers from all languages and an intricately designed Royal Emblem Rangoli, Reflecting their Creativity and Commitment to Celebrating India’s rich multilingual heritage.

The Programme witnessed active involvement from Students Co-Ordinator’s, Faculty members and participants. The Successful Inuguration of ‘CARV’ Marks an Important Step toward fostering a Vibrant Culture of language of language learning and Literacy appreciation within the Institution.

COMMERCE FEST – ABHYUDAYA-2025

The Intra College Competition was held on 28th and 29th November 2025 at Sahyadri Institute of Commerce. The Programme was Conducted under IQAC and Chamber of Commerce Under the guidance of Principal Ullas E.G, The event was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by secretary Smt. Nalini D’sa, Principal Ullas E.G and faculties of Commerce Department.

The Principal welcomed and wishes the students and explained the rules & intention of each competition (Brand Tag, Build-A-Biz, The Art Collab, Local Legends, Battle of Minds.

The Competitions Conducted on 28-11-2025, Friday are

  1. Brand Tag (11:30 AM – 01:00 PM)

Students prepared PPTs, and created innovate advertisement Showering their marketing Skills and creativity in launching the banned products. The 4 teams Participated & 3teams won.

2. Build-A-Biz (01:30 PM -3:30PM)

Participants presented startup business ideas with products. Total teams were participated, 3 teams were declared winners.

2. Battle of Minds (1:00 PM – 02:00PM)

It was conducted on the topic ‘Cash V/S Digital Payment’, ‘Cost and Value of Higher Education’. A total of 6 teams participated & 3 teams were declared winners. one team Spoke ‘far’ the topic and another Spoke ‘against’ it. The winners are

Judgements of all competitions was done under the criteria of creativity, presentation, feasibility, visual appeal, Analytical thinking etc.

Three-Day Soft Skill Development Program

Hosted by: Sahyadri Institute of Commerce, Chikkamagaluru

Dates: 29th, 30th, and 31st October 2025

Venue: Seminar Hall, Sahyadri Institute of Commerce, Chikkamagaluru

A three-day Soft Skill Development Program was organised by the Magic Bus Foundation for the final year B.Com students of Sahyadri Institute of Commerce, Chikkamagaluru. The sessions were conducted by Mr. Syed Abdul Hafeez, an experienced and dynamic trainer from Magic Bus Foundation. The event was effectively coordinated by Mr. Ravi N, Senior Officer, Magic Bus Foundation.

The inaugural ceremony of the program was held on 29th October 2025. The event was formally inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the Principal Mr. Ullas E. G, Senior Officer Mr. Ravi N, Trainer Mr. Syed Abdul Hafeez, Class Coordinator Mrs. Mahalakshmi C. N, and the students of final year B.Com. The inauguration marked the beginning of an engaging and insightful three-day learning experience.

The program aimed to enhance the employability and interpersonal skills of students by focusing on key aspects such as communication skills, positive mindset, adaptability, flexibility, opportunity grabbing, group discussions, and resume building. Various fun learning activities and interactive sessions kept the students motivated and actively involved throughout the program.

Students participated with great enthusiasm and discipline, which was highly appreciated by the trainer. The sessions provided valuable insights into professional and personal development.

On the final day, a valedictory function was held in the seminar hall. The function was graced by Mrs. Nalini D’sa, Secretary of SECT; Mr. Ravi N, Senior Officer of Magic Bus Foundation; Mr. Syed Abdul Hafeez, Trainer; Mrs. Srilalitha K, Academic Coordinator of BCA Department and Placement Cell Officer; and the faculty members of the Commerce Department, Mrs. Mahalakshmi C. N and Mrs. Kavayashree C. V.

Student feedback was shared by Ms. Sinchana, Mr. Chiranjeevi, and Ms. Lavanya of Final B.Com, who expressed their gratitude for the enriching and interactive sessions.

In her address, Mrs. Srilalitha K appreciated the trainers for conducting such a lively and meaningful program and encouraged students to apply the learned skills in their careers. Mrs. Nalini D’sa also shared similar thoughts and commended the collaboration between Magic Bus Foundation and Sahyadri Institute of Commerce, Chikkamagaluru.

Mr. Ravi N and Mr. Syed Abdul Hafeez expressed their happiness about the students’ discipline, participation, and enthusiasm throughout the program.

The three-day event concluded successfully with positive feedback from both trainers and students, marking another step forward in enhancing the holistic development of commerce students.

FKCCI INNO–Manthan – Business Plan Presentation Competition

The Government of Karnataka, in collaboration with the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI), organized a state-level Business Plan Presentation Competition titled FKCCI INNO–Manthan. With the objective of creating awareness about the competition and encouraging student participation, an inaugural programme was conducted on 23 January 2026 at Sahyadri Institute of Commerce, Chikkamagaluru.

The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries. The resource person for the event was Chartered Accountant CA Shubha Ganesh, who delivered an insightful session on the importance of entrepreneurship, the challenges faced by entrepreneurs, and the significance of developing a strong and viable business plan. Her address was highly informative and motivational for the students.

The programme was presided over by Mrs. Nalini D’Sa, Chairperson of the Institution, who guided the event with her leadership and support. Mr. Ullas E.G, Principal of the College, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of entrepreneurial thinking, innovation, and creativity among students. He encouraged students to develop problem-solving skills, take initiative, and actively participate in platforms such as FKCCI INNO–Manthan to transform their ideas into successful business ventures.

Mr. Shantaram Hegde, President of CCI, Chikkamagaluru, and Vice President, Department of English, IDSJ College, Chikkamagaluru, was present on the dais and extended his support to the programme. Mr. Mahesh G. P., District Coordinator of INNO–Manthan, was also present and contributed to the successful conduct of the programme.

The programme concluded successfully with active participation from students and faculty members, inspiring students to explore entrepreneurship and innovative business ideas.

The programme was compered by Ms. Suha Fathima. The welcome address was delivered by Ms. Manavi, followed by the guest introduction by Ms. Aishwarya C. E. The vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Varshini J., and the programme began with a prayer song rendered by Ms. Tulasi priya and her team.
