“CARV”

The Sahyadri Institute of Commerce formally Inaugurated its multilingual Language Club “CARV” On 25 November 2025. The Club aims to enhance Linguistics Competence, Promote Cultural Literacy and Create an inclusive Platform for academic enrichment across Kannada, English, Hindi and Urdu.

The Programme Commenced with the dignified Lighting of the Ceremonial  lamp by Smt. Nalini D’sa Secretary of the institution Symbolizing Knowledge, harmony and enlightenment. Dr Ullas E.G Principal who also participated in the Lamp -lighting Ceremony and delivered an insightful address emphasising the importance of linguistic diversity in holistic education. he encouraged Students to utilize the Club as a Space for intellectual growth and Creative expression.

As Part of the event, Students Presented ‘Historical Models’, Poster of eminent writers from all languages and an intricately designed Royal Emblem Rangoli, Reflecting their Creativity and Commitment to Celebrating India’s rich multilingual heritage.

The Programme witnessed active involvement from Students Co-Ordinator’s, Faculty members and participants. The Successful Inuguration of ‘CARV’ Marks an Important Step toward fostering a Vibrant Culture of language of language learning and Literacy appreciation within the Institution.

COMMERCE FEST – ABHYUDAYA-2025

ABHYUDAYA-2025

The Intra College Competition was held on 28th and 29th November 2025 at Sahyadri Institute of Commerce. The Programme was Conducted under IQAC and Chamber of Commerce Under the guidance of Principal Ullas E.G, The event was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by secretary Smt. Nalini D’sa, Principal Ullas E.G and faculties of Commerce Department.

The Principal welcomed and wishes the students and explained the rules & intention of each competition (Brand Tag, Build-A-Biz, The Art Collab, Local Legends, Battle of Minds.

The Competitions Conducted on 28-11-2025, Friday are

  1. Brand Tag (11:30 AM – 01:00 PM)

Students prepared PPTs, and created innovate advertisement Showering their marketing Skills and creativity in launching the banned products. The 4 teams Participated & 3teams won.

Participants presented startup business ideas with products. Total teams were participated, 3 teams were declared winners.

Three-Day Soft Skill Development Program

Organised by: Magic Bus Foundation

Hosted by: Sahyadri Institute of Commerce, Chikkamagaluru

Dates: 29th, 30th, and 31st October 2025

Venue: Seminar Hall, Sahyadri Institute of Commerce, Chikkamagaluru

A three-day Soft Skill Development Program was organised by the Magic Bus Foundation for the final year B.Com students of Sahyadri Institute of Commerce, Chikkamagaluru. The sessions were conducted by Mr. Syed Abdul Hafeez, an experienced and dynamic trainer from Magic Bus Foundation. The event was effectively coordinated by Mr. Ravi N, Senior Officer, Magic Bus Foundation.

The inaugural ceremony of the program was held on 29th October 2025. The event was formally inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the Principal Mr. Ullas E. G, Senior Officer Mr. Ravi N, Trainer Mr. Syed Abdul Hafeez, Class Coordinator Mrs. Mahalakshmi C. N, and the students of final year B.Com. The inauguration marked the beginning of an engaging and insightful three-day learning experience.

The program aimed to enhance the employability and interpersonal skills of students by focusing on key aspects such as communication skills, positive mindset, adaptability, flexibility, opportunity grabbing, group discussions, and resume building. Various fun learning activities and interactive sessions kept the students motivated and actively involved throughout the program.

Students participated with great enthusiasm and discipline, which was highly appreciated by the trainer. The sessions provided valuable insights into professional and personal development.

On the final day, a valedictory function was held in the seminar hall. The function was graced by Mrs. Nalini D’sa, Secretary of SECT; Mr. Ravi N, Senior Officer of Magic Bus Foundation; Mr. Syed Abdul Hafeez, Trainer; Mrs. Srilalitha K, Academic Coordinator of BCA Department and Placement Cell Officer; and the faculty members of the Commerce Department, Mrs. Mahalakshmi C. N and Mrs. Kavayashree C. V.

Student feedback was shared by Ms. Sinchana, Mr. Chiranjeevi, and Ms. Lavanya of Final B.Com, who expressed their gratitude for the enriching and interactive sessions.

In her address, Mrs. Srilalitha K appreciated the trainers for conducting such a lively and meaningful program and encouraged students to apply the learned skills in their careers. Mrs. Nalini D’sa also shared similar thoughts and commended the collaboration between Magic Bus Foundation and Sahyadri Institute of Commerce, Chikkamagaluru.

Mr. Ravi N and Mr. Syed Abdul Hafeez expressed their happiness about the students’ discipline, participation, and enthusiasm throughout the program.

The three-day event concluded successfully with positive feedback from both trainers and students, marking another step forward in enhancing the holistic development of commerce students.

FKCCI INNO–Manthan – Business Plan Presentation Competition

The Government of Karnataka, in collaboration with the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI), organized a state-level Business Plan Presentation Competition titled FKCCI INNO–Manthan. With the objective of creating awareness about the competition and encouraging student participation, an inaugural programme was conducted on 23 January 2026 at Sahyadri Institute of Commerce, Chikkamagaluru.

The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries. The resource person for the event was Chartered Accountant CA Shubha Ganesh, who delivered an insightful session on the importance of entrepreneurship, the challenges faced by entrepreneurs, and the significance of developing a strong and viable business plan. Her address was highly informative and motivational for the students.

The programme was presided over by Mrs. Nalini D’Sa, Chairperson of the Institution, who guided the event with her leadership and support. Mr. Ullas E.G, Principal of the College, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of entrepreneurial thinking, innovation, and creativity among students. He encouraged students to develop problem-solving skills, take initiative, and actively participate in platforms such as FKCCI INNO–Manthan to transform their ideas into successful business ventures.

Mr. Shantaram Hegde, President of CCI, Chikkamagaluru, and Vice President, Department of English, IDSJ College, Chikkamagaluru, was present on the dais and extended his support to the programme. Mr. Mahesh G. P., District Coordinator of INNO–Manthan, was also present and contributed to the successful conduct of the programme.

The programme concluded successfully with active participation from students and faculty members, inspiring students to explore entrepreneurship and innovative business ideas.

The programme was compered by Ms. Suha Fathima. The welcome address was delivered by Ms. Manavi, followed by the guest introduction by Ms. Aishwarya C. E. The vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Varshini J., and the programme began with a prayer song rendered by Ms. Tulasi priya and her team.

“Swamy Vivekanada’s 161st Jayanthi-National Youth Day”

A soft Skill Training Program

On the occasion of 161st birth anniversary of Swamy Vivekananda, Sahyadri Institute of Commerce First Grade College Organized a Soft skill training workshop.

Soft skill is a very popular term, used to indicate transversal competences such as social aptitudes, language and communication capability, friendliness and abilityof  working in team.

Mr. Annanayaka, Soft skill trainer and head master, Government primary school, Hirekolale was the resource person who started the program by lighting the lamp.

Mr. Annanayaka addressed the gathering and provided useful information on communication, listening skills, Socializing, Team building, Planning, Developing thinking power and building a good personality.  He also conducted fun games for students.

Adding to it, Mr. Ullas E G, Principal, Sahyadri institute of Commerce, First Grade College, stressed the importance of such programs and also suggested students to up skill themselves to be the future entrepreneurs.

A balanced Life, Health and Wellness – Workshop

Balanced life, Health and Wellness workshop event was organized in Sahyadri institute of Commerce First Grade College.  On 17th November 2022 to help students keep a balanced, healthy and happy life.

Dr. K.S. Vinay Kumar, Psychiatrist, District Hospital, Chikkamagaluru was the chief guest of the program.

Dr. Vinay Kumar addressed the students and provided information about several issues that students face in their day to day life. He also discussed age appropriate issues and also stressed on ways to achieve their goals.

Dr. Vinay Kumar stressed mainly on how to achieve mental stability, to overcome insomnia problems and to avoid mental stress.

Mr. Ullas E G, Principal, Sahyadri Institute of commerce, First Grade College addressed the gathering and told students to mingle with everyone and to socialize themselves to overcome stress.

The program started with prayer by Prarthana and team, welcome by Ananya and Thanking by Theju.

All the students and staffs were present on the occasion.

Pre Exam Preparation – Workshop

A program on Pre-exam preparation was organized on 04th May 2022 at Sahyadri Institute of Commerce First Grade College for the first semester students.

Mr Prasanth, Asst Prof, Department of Commerce, IDSG First Grade College, Chikkamagaluru was present as a resource person.

Mr. Prashanth, discussed about how NEP has opened a new way of learning for the students and they should make good use of it.  It is not difficult to get success with proper preparation.  He also shared information about exam pattern, total marks, question paper code, method of answering, precautionary measures to be followed and other useful information.

Mr. Ullas E G, Principal, who presided over the program said that “Turn exams in to your stepping stones to success”.

All the lecturers were present on the occasion and the program was organized by the students.

Banking Sector – Career Opportunities

A special program on the career opportunities in banking sector was held on 09th April 2022 at 11.AM (Time) in Sahyadri Institute of Commerce First Grade College.  The main aim of the program was to create awareness in the youngsters mind about career opportunities.

The program was addressed by resource persons from State Bank of India, Chikkamagaluru.

The guest of honor of the event,sMr. Shivrajkumar Maistry, Assistant Manager, State Bank of India, Chikkamagaluru, said that the banking industry provides wealth of opportunities in banking, insurance and other banking related sectors.  This can be easily benefited through proper guidance and preparation.

Jnanesh B H, Deputy Manager, State Bank of India, Chikkamagaluru.  addressed the students and shared that the people taking employment in banking sector in Karnataka is low compared to other states and the reason may be lack of awareness about the career paths in banking sector.

Prof.Ullas E G, Principal of the College said that it is better to prepare for the job right from beginning of the graduation rather than wait till end of the course to get fruitful benefits.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT

As part of the academic, sahyadri Institute of Commerce First Grade College arranged an industrial visit for our students on  08th April 2022  to N G Fruits Industrial Visit, Sakkarayapattana, Kadur (TQ), Chikkamagaluru.

Mr. Narendra, Owner, N G Fruits has given a warm welcome to the team and made special arrangements for viewing the unit.  He shared information about his organization and the challenges he faced in the beginning days.

He was delighted to say that the Company which Started as a small scale enterprise, today capable of supplying raw materials for production of Jackfruit  ice cream, cake, halwa and other ingredients to Hangyo, KMF and to several foreign companies.

He also added that in the coming days the organization aims to export vegan jackfruit ingredients which are in high demand in abroad (Dubai, Australia).

Speaking on the occasion, the principal Mr. Ullas E G, said that the owner Narendra is true inspiration for the construction of a self-reliant India and to welcome self employed.
